#1. Epic Raistlin: An Exercise in Time Stop by Jai

First game night with the new Night Below figures, and it happens to be Epic. I just got my Epic Raistlin card, and figured i would pony up with the others 6 folks i figured would show up with him and see how powerful this guy truly is. I chose to be different from the others though, and play him in LE via Red Wizard. (I have a thing for LE)
LE 500/9 C3 (Hellspike)
Raistlin Majere, Cadaver Collector, Steel Predator, Red Wizard, Demonic Gnoll Priestess, Hobgoblin Marshal, Bat Familiar, Dire Rat, Goblin Skirmisher
The concept here is to blindsight Raistlin, Motivate him, then move 6 and Time Stop, putting him a single move and Meteor swarm away from every enemy figure. With his Debilitating Magic and Red Wizard his Meteor Swarm hits for 50 dmg.
Raistlin is the White Circle: Raistlin on Hellspike

1st Matchup (win) - Carl (new guy): Storm Silverhand, Huge Fire Elemental, Bonded Fire Summoner, Brass Samurai, Asura, Living Flaming Sphere, Bat Familiar; CG 500/7 C6 (Hellspike)
Map: King's Road (both brought)
Side: B (his win, his choice)
I had to get rid of Storm. My only spells to hurt the Fire crowd, was lightning bolt, which healed her. Confusion on Raistlin would have been bad. But it was his first game and i wanted to help teach him. I was torn. I opted for killing Storm, then helping him. By upping the DC on Finger of death, she failed one of her two rolls, thankfully. From that point on, it was a simple matter of eliminating the figures by brute force. The extra spells did help in that endeavor.

2nd Matchup (win) - Ed (Chairman): Raistlin Majere, Frost Giant Jarl x2, Thrall of Blackrazor, Mounted Drow Patrol x2, Orc Wardrummer, Orc Warrior; CE 500/8 C2 (Blue Dragon Lair)
Map: Hellspike (my win, my choice)
Side: A (his win, his choice)
I was hoping to face a Jarl at somepoint tonight so i could have the chance at 140 fire damage between meteor swarm and fireball. I hadn't expected to face two of them at once! With his Raistlin waiting to return the havoc i was about to bring, i didn't waste any time, and i brought the thunder right out of the gate. I placed the Predator on the remote start area so i could place his sonic cone whereever i needed it. I cast blindsight on Raistlin, then motivated him out 6 squares. I then moved fodder and Cadaver, then Red Wizard. I then used Raistlins Time Stop after moving to near center. At that point he was out of activations. I moved in and cast meteor swarm: One Jarl failed, one Drow failed, Thrall and Raistlin failed; Wardrummer was still out of sight behind a wall. I followed with two more lightning bolts, killing the other drow, the thrall and Raistlin. At this point, the predator's (who hadn't activated yet) sonic would finish of the most wounded Jarl, and Ed conceded to get a drink and play another game he had bought for the next 45 minutes.

3rd Matchup (loss) - Eddie (my nemesis): Lady Vol, Beholder x4, Dark Naga, Snig the Axe, Prisoner, Goblin Skirmisher x3; LE 496/15 C4 (Dragondown Grotto)
Map: Grotto (his win, his choice)
Side: Right Side (his choice, i forget which is which)
Well, this sucked. We bothed rolled a 3 for map init, and his +4 won his map and the game for him. I still fought it out as best i could, but i failed the Anti-Magic eye on only one spell ... meteor swarm. That was rough. I passed almost all my saves until the last round, when the Steel pred turned to stone, giving him a 94 point lead. I tried killing Vol to even the score, but i just couldn't do it. Looking back on it, i think he used healing from beholders that could see closer beholders .... hmmm. Doh! Oh well. What can i say, his band was designed to neuter mine, and his map helped in that process.

Oh yeah. That was fun. 2-1, losing to my pair down (story of my life with pair-downs), but man is this a fun band. If i played it again, i would consider dropping the cadaver for another steel predator to ensure i can finish off some weakened foes. But i would also like to try this in CE where i am not burning 60 points on Red Wizard ...

The only issue I see is with your second opponents warband! Thrall is Unique and therefore you can only have 1! Otherwise I like the idea!

Yeah, I only ran one. And the band seemed like a cool idea at the time. Once Jai laid down that MAJOR smackdown in the first ROUND, it was all-but over.

Frost Giants, for the record, don't like Meteor Storm (especially bumped up to 50 damage, with a high save). I believe that may be the very worst butt-kicking I have ever received in DDM. It was ugly.

But that said, I think Jai's band was awesome!!! An epic Raistlin with Blindsight on Hellspike is a beautiful thing. He plays it great, too, really knows what he's doing.

Motivate, Time Stop, lay SERIOUS smackdown, Swift back to start area, then let the CC and Steel Pred use their Cones before mopping up. It's a GREAT plan.

Man I need new glasses! I see that now. What you really need is to somehow put in a DMHoD in!
