#1. Dungeon Tiles Mapper 2.0 by Jai

Hey Folks,
I am finally releasing version 2.0 in a final state. It is always possible something nasty is found and i have to do a quick bug fix, but i believe this to be 100% ready to rock!

So, continuing discussion from the beta thread I wanted to have a place that folks can discuss the mapper. Whether that discussion is about bugs, or maps to share, or just to complain, i am all ears!

Also, please check out the Mapper's Homepage for the new content i have added!
- Quick Guide: ToolBox and Menu Icon descriptions
- Extensinos Guide: A Quick how to download and add and create Extensions
- Downloads for the full shebang, or just certain extensions
- Run the Mapper live with only a couple extensions

Well, i think that covers it all for now!

GAH!
I clicked all the links to make sure the files were there, but i didn't check to make sure the files had more than *0* bytes. Sorry about that. Uploaded properly now.

Dungeon Chamgers should be "Dungeon Chambers" :)

Also, the bug I had before (couldn't move tiles after placement) does not seem to exist. This is during a preliminary test of the program. Once I make a complete map... could be different.

That is bizarre. I saw that originally, but i made it go away. I wonder if i missed it in the zip i have out there. Doh! It will be fixed when i get around to doing an update (not likely too soon), perhaps when the next Dungeon Tiles come out.

Glad the other error seems to have cleared up a bit.

Just downloaded and installed and noticed a bug.

When I move the ToolBox around it sometimes will go off the screen and I cannot move it back.

What I discovers is that when you click and drag on any area that has text, ToolBox - Maps, or ToolBox - Tiles, you are unable to make it go off the screen. Click and draging from anyother area to the right of that and you can move it off the screen. Don't know if it is an easy fix or maybe add the ability to right click and select a move feature to move around the window.

Hope you are able to fix it and thanks for this great mapping tool.

Sorry i missed this post, and this bug. I will look into this, and add it to my list of things to check out. Updates are going to be awhile though, i am busier at work lately, and have a couple of other things in the works too.

Any thoughts on getting rid of the "red" tile outlines? I find them very distracting. Even an ability to toggle between red & black would be better. Looking at the JS it appears this may be being done at the PHP server. Would that be correct? Beyond that little annoyance, its an awesome and clever application. Cudos on the great job.

I put it there for a couple of reasons, one of which was to ensure that WotC didn't find that people were using this to build maps and then printing them out w/o purchasing product. I may look into a toggle on color or removal in future releases if this doesn't concern them the way I thought it would.

Are there any restrictions to extending your code or using the source from Dungeon Tile Mapper for other projects? I was unable to find copyright info other than the stuff that was open source i.e. scriptalicious etc.

I don't know if anyone has requested this before..
But is it possible to have an extension with the Basic Game tileboards included? Both 2004 and 2006 tiles would be very useful to have in the mapper..

I've tried myself (after hours, I finally got the boards scanned without any illuminated lines everyhere), but I never got it working..

Nice app. :) Where do Cave Tiles and Dungeon Chambers come from?

I suspect it might be some of the tiles from Ă˜one's self-print products..

I purchased alot of those a long time ago.. I've seen better, but they are quite good for the price..

I just don't quite recognise the few tiles in the Mapper 2.0 collection..

Anyways: It appears that I have solved my own problem from above.
I will be doing the final work on it later today

I myself would love to see some of the products scanned for this. IE: Basic Game tileboards. I don't have a scanner and would love to somehow get them into the mapper.

I actually managed to get them in the mapper (thanks to an industry copier and my own scanner).
I sent Jai the files shortly after, and he will put them up as a selective download once he gets back on..

It turns out it wasn't really hard.. Once I reduced the boards to 50% size with the copier.. Suddenly it only an hour for each side of each board instead of the 10 hours before (cutting them together - rescanning due to different look on the tiles and so on)

Perhaps you can tell me if there was another Basic Game in 2006 before the blue dragon edition?

Anyways.. Here you have the Basic Game tiles and maps, untill Jai downloads them and puts them up for you: Download

Actually I was wondering, Jai.
Is it possible to somehow in a later version to make larger maps?
My main dungeon is in 5 pieces, due to the limitations of the mapper..

Hello,

I'm using the latest edition of the Dungeon mapper and I'm running into a problem. Sometimes when I set down a tile I can't move it from the spot that it was set down on. Even if I put down the exact same tile just before it and was able to move it. It appears stuck in place and there is no rhyme or reason to it. Is this just a bug and if there any solution to it or do I just have to work around it?

Actually there is a reason for it.. You've reached the limit of how many tiles you can have..

When you export the map, you will be given a large amount of text and numbers..
This data cannot exceed a single line in Notepad, or it'll simply be too large.

One way to work around it is to change the folder- and filenames to something smaller, and naturally change them in the ExtensionMaps.js and Manifest.js files..

I also noticed that I have given my folders from the basic game tiles stupid names.. Way to long names in fact..

Now from answering this, I just gave myself a great idea that I hadn't thought about before :)

Just thought I'd let you all know, that I've started a group for sharing your dungeon layouts created with Jais Tile Mapper..
You can find the group .:here:.
