#1. Old news? Ralph Horseley Miniature Designs by Almalik Nov 1, 2006 2:47 pm
Warning: this may be really old news!
Just happened upon the page of an artist who does some designs for different ccgs and was looking at his resume of artwork he has done, and he had these listed under D&D miniatures:
D&D; Miniature designs
These are pencil drawings depicting front and back views of the character. They are intended as a template for use by the sculptor.
Gargantuan Blue Dragon Black Raider Green Slaad Hill Giant Barbarian Ogre warhulk Goblin Blackblade Unique Mind Flayer Goliath cleric of Kavalki Tavern brawler Tordek dwarf champion Small black dragon Giant Forgepriest Soldier of bytopia Hierophant of the seven winds Shadowbane inquisitor Large gold dragon Raistlin Wild mage Hobgoblin marshal Skeletal courser Carnage demon Orc thunderback rider
He notes that some of them may be under their working title, rather than their final title. I have been staying away from hordelings/maxminis for the last month or two so that most of Blood War will be a surprise on Friday (yay made my save!), so I am not sure how many of these are in the Blood War or Unhallowed spoilers, or if this is very old news, but I thought I would pass it along.

Hierophant? Epic druid?! Hrm... that could be fun...
Sounds like a good number of interesting figures. Sounds like he just broke his NDA a well....

Spoiler alert!
Gargantuan Blue Dragon - already known about and on the way Black Raider - blackspawn from WotDQ? Green Slaad - BW Hill Giant Barbarian - WD Ogre warhulk - WD Goblin Blackblade - WD Unique Mind Flayer - Shuluth (WD) Goliath cleric of Kavalki - WotDQ Tavern brawler - WotDQ Tordek dwarf champion - WotDQ Small black dragon - WotDQ Giant Forgepriest - BW Soldier of bytopia - BW Hierophant of the seven winds - Unknown! Shadowbane inquisitor - unknown! Large gold dragon - Jump for joy if that's coming!! Raistlin - Nifty... if it shows up. Wild mage - elf warmage, maybe? (BW) Hobgoblin marshal - ? Hobgoblin Talon of Tiamat, perhaps? (WotDQ) Skeletal courser - ? Skeletal Reaper, maybe? (BW) Carnage demon - ? to generic to guess, but lots to choose from in BW Orc thunderback rider - could this have turned into dwarf on boar? (BW) Otherwise unknown
Some of those do indeed look nifty, and, as far as I know, som of them are completely new! Nice find!
Insert nifty witticism here... if only I had one.

After finding the site (took about 5 seconds), I don't think he necessarily broke his NDA (possible, though)... and I'm less excited about these "figures". It was quoted above, but looking through the site it's painfully apparent that he is making no claim that any of these works will or won't become minis at some point... basically, he's selling his artwork, which would suggest to me that it WASN'T used to make a figure (though there are several that obviously were, so I don't know). I wouldn't think he could sell a piece that wizards was actively using to make a fig from, but who knows how the legal-ese is crafted...

Every single WotC-employed artist I know who owns a website has previews of his work months (and sometimes even years) before the work is published.
Either artists have different NDAs, or WotC simply doesn't care about it. I don't think it's our business to concern ourselves with other people's NDAs.

Wild mage - elf warmage, maybe? (BW)
Hmm wild mage and war mage are pretty different, D&D wise and also appearance wise (as a general rule). I doubt the warmage started out as a "wild mage" sculpt, and therefore, am looking forward to seeing a wild mage! Maybe he'll have some kinda crazy random spell effect like the green slaad! :) Neat to see this info, thanks for posting it!

Hmm. It's a darn shame that there aren't any previews of the material. I'm pretty interested in several of those names!

Skeletal courser - ? Skeletal Reaper, maybe? (BW)
A courser generally refers to a horse, so unless the skeletal reaper used to be mounted, it looks like we can expect a boney equine in a future set (probably Unhallowed, right?).

it also can mean somebody who hunts, which I'm guessing is probably more along the lines of what we'll see
while a skeletal horse would be ok, we already have the Skeletal Equiceph
now a skeleton mounted on a skeletal horse could be interesting

Yup, google defines courser as "charger: formerly a strong swift horse ridden into battle"
Wasn't there an adventure/sourcebook coming out soon or that is new that had a skeleton on a skeletal horse?
