For those of you familiar with my previous antics Octoskull, i have decided that it was time for more.
Last night our FLGS had a 100 pt night. I wanted to run Kobolds, but our store owner had announced that his kobold horde was ready, so i decided to let him corner the market. But i wanted to politely josh him for taking my band from me. So, i decided that Snig's commander effect is best, when he has lots of small followers. And how best to get him lots of small followers *and* josh the Kobold army!? You guessed it, the Snig Kobold Zombie Horde(tm): Snig the Axe, Goblin Skirmisher x3, Kobold Zombie x20.
1st Matchup (loss) - Village Priest, Arcanix Guard x3, Slayer of Domiel, Timber Wolf ... (if i recall)
Map (his): Dragon Shrine
What can i say, i swarmed forward, keeping Snig surrounded and safe from the Slayer. I started getting Tile points in round 2, but was a round behind him because of his wolf. After 6 or 7 rounds, he had killed Snig (not using double points), the Sniglettes, and 10 of my zombies, winning on points. I must note that he had only one Arcanix left, and his Slayer had about 15hp left (she passed morale *after* i killed his commander, which was my best chance at a win). I also rolled 6 20s for attacks in this game.
2nd Matchup (loss) - Tiefling Captain, Orc Champion, Ogre Ravager
Map (his): (fixed) Broken Demongate
What can i say, he had Cleave. I did however manage to route his Champ, but my defensive line worked perfectly ... in forcing his champ to route the long way and getting to rally right next to his commander and my zombies that might have killed it otherwise. His ogre also wasted 4 or 5 crits (3 or 4 of which were 19s).
3rd Mathup (loss) - Village Priest, Medium Silver Dragon, Sacred Watcher, Warforged Scout
Map (his): Field of Ruin
Well, again, what can i say? He had a breath weapon. I was able to minimize it. Only 4 or the 6 hit by it died. Snig went early to an end of the round hit by the Watcher followed by a first of the round crit by the Watcher. That ened my chances of muscling my way through this one via crits for 15 (i pretty much needed crits to hit everybody).
So, story time has come to an end today. I wish the tale was more heroic and told of noble and daring wins. But come on, it's a goblin, with kobold zombies ...
